APH supports you on your healing journey. Advocates use a trauma-informed approach, with its foundation on the basis of the sanctuary model, "do no harm." This involves active listening, empathy, and acknowledgment of the victim/survivor's reality as they are experiencing it. Advocates are professionally trained and certified in trauma-informed techniques providing assistance to trauma survivors and their significant others. A person who has been victimized often struggles with relationship difficulties, feelings of guilt, grief and loss, and flashbacks. Our confidential services can assist you in processing these feelings.

We offer
Empowerment Counseling
Trauma-informed advocates provide confidential interventions in a safe environment, that are action focused and client-entered, either in a one-on-one or group setting. Counseling is available to both adult and child victims/survivors, and focuses on understanding the complexities and effects of victimization. They also assist with exploring options and ways to implement strategies to overcome obstacles. In group settings, participants build rapport and mutual respect while discussing the complexities of victimization. This gives them the opportunity to reduce isolation and become empowered.
