Our services are confidential and provided at no cost to victims.
APH staff do not provide legal advice, our advocates can provide:
- Legal Advocacy
- Victim Advocates provide in-person, non-judgmental support in a legal setting. The advocates are responsible for providing the necessary information to the victims/survivors about the legal system when making critical decisions. They also ensure that the victims'/survivors' rights are upheld throughout the process and provide explanation of the legal ramifications.

- Protection from Abuse Orders (PFA)
- The PFA order is granted from the court to provide protective "relief" to adult victims and/or children for up to three years. Advocates provide support to the victims/survivors while completing the PFA paperwork. They also ensure that the victims/survivors rights are upheld throughout the process and provide explanation of the legal ramifications.

- Sexual Violence Protection Order (SVPO)/Protection from Intimidation Order (PFI)
- SVPO's are granted from the court to provide "relief" to adult victims/survivors and/or children for up to three years. The PFI is granted from the court to provide "relief" to minor victims/survivors with defendants 18 years of age or older, for up to three years. Advocates support the victims/survivors while filing these orders. They also ensure that the victims/survivors rights are upheld throughout and provide explanation of the legal ramifications.

They are responsible for providing necessary information and explanation to the victims/survivors about the medical system when making critical decisions, ensuring that the victims/survivors rights are upheld throughout the process.

- Victim Compensation Assistance Program
- Advocates support victims/survivors and their eligible family members by providing information and assistance to ease financial burdens they may face as a result of crime. Please view the information VCAP fact sheet here.
Confidentiality Statement
Alice Paul House is committed to respecting and adhering to the privacy and integrity of all those we service and to keeping all aspects of their involvement with APH confidential to the fullest extent possible as stated in federal law. Any written/spoken information exchanged between a client and APH is confidential and not to be shared with any third party without the client's consent subject to the following two exceptions:
1. A client has the intent to harm themselves and/or another person.
2. The information shared involves suspected child abuse or neglect, i.e. someone under the age of 18 years old. In that case, as mandated reporters, APH advocates will report suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate Children and Youth Agency and/or ChildLine.
